Description (anglais) : ‘In January 1413 war provided an opportunity for peasants around this capital [Udine] to protest and cut special deals with the Venetian state. The king of Hungary (whose troops then occupied the area) imposed a new tax (colta) of 25,000 ducats on the region, but the peasants (villani) refused to pay, claiming they did not have the means, and turned to San Marco for support.’ Cause: Military loss, fortunes of war. Course of action: Peaceful demonstration, march, pleas. Repression: Success.
